Why it matters.

The first two minutes belong to whoever is standing there. Knowing DRABC and how to call for help makes you useful in the worst moment instead of a bystander.

What success looks like.

  • DRABC sequence demonstrated in a drill with a partner.
  • Bleeding control steps performed in the correct order.
  • An emergency call that delivers location, condition and count without panic.

The component skills.

DRABCBleeding controlEmergency call structure

Typical mistakes.

  • — Moving a casualty unnecessarily.
  • — Forgetting your own safety before approaching.
  • — Practising on real injuries instead of drills — drills only.

Practise — activities that produce artifacts.

DRABC sequence drill ~25 min

With a partner acting as casualty, walk the full DRABC sequence aloud — Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation — twice, slowly. Drills only, never on real injuries.

Artifact: Drill notes: what you said and did, in order

Emergency call rehearsal ~15 min

Write the six things an emergency call must deliver (location, condition, count, help given, access, callback) and practise saying them calmly against a 60-second timer.

Artifact: Your call script + timed run

Missions — do it for real.

Mentors for this capability.

Matched from real, opted-in Lifelong Careers members through the Mentor Intelligence Network — with their trust states shown as stored. Source-listed is not the same as verified.

No opted-in mentors match this capability yet — none are invented. See the Mentors view or the full directory.

How assessment works.

Every submission gets a transparent first-pass against the mission's rubric — what was looked for and what was observed. Verified state requires a real review; the system never upgrades self-reported evidence on its own.

clarity

Short sentences, concrete words, no unexplained jargon

composure

Notes on pressure moments and what reset you used

completeness

All parts of the task covered — nothing skipped or assumed away

safety_discipline

Safety steps named and done in order; limits respected

evidence_quality

An observable artifact: worksheet, receipt, photo reference, recording note

process_correctness

Steps done in a sensible order, nothing skipped

Accepted evidence: mission_submission, mentor_review, observed_application, work_sample.

Stated plainly — what this doesn't do

  • — This capability is informational practice only — it is not a first-aid qualification. Formal certification requires an accredited provider, and real emergencies call for professional help.
  • — Submissions are private, self-reported evidence — they never become verified without a real review.
  • — Mentor review for capabilities arrives in a later phase of this module.
